Greetings from winter wonderland or is it Merry Christmas. Yes we have seen the dreaded white stuff this past week. It has froze almost every night this week. Where did our Indian Summer go? September was truly a beautiful month. Now?

Last week was spent in Wisconsin Dells for the Tavern League of Wi for our semi annual convention. We went over the rules of smoking rooms when the smoking ban goes into effect. I had meetings about the saferide program. We went to trade shows. Our lobbyist spoke to us. We did accomplish some issues. We also had to watch as Brett Favre kicked our butt. Wait until Nov. The Queens remain undefeated. Packers had a bye week.
We had our annual fundraiser for our local Ashland Bayfield County Tavern League at Crossroads. Everything went well. A good time was had by all! If you are interested in becoming a member or setting up a saferide program please contact me 795-2320. Visit the statewide website at TLW.org.


Elliott has started with basketball. There were so many kids that they had to split the 6th graders from the 7th and 8th graders. Starting Wednesday at the Barnes Community Church will be their youth program. The kids gather after school in a Christian environment. Elliott loves the camaraderie with all the kids and college students and of course Dave Johnson the youth director. Way to kid our children safe while also having a good time.

Elliott got his midterm grades and all looks well. Good job Honey!

I missed bowling last week. I heard they won 2 games. We will see what happens this week.

Get well wishes to Tim as he is facing some health issues. Tim is the husband of one of my bowling friends. Also to Terry Dorn head coach of the Barnes Trading Post 4th of July Softball Team. Good luck with your treatments. All the others facing medical issues. You are in my thoughts. It is so hard living in a rural area when it comes to tragedy and sickness as you always know your neighbors.

My condolences to the Gilbert Torvinen Family in his passing.
