Greetings to all my friends and foe! Life has been hectic
but oh so very fun and fortifying. With Tavern League
meetings, Eau Claire Lakes Business Association meetings,
Barnes Blog information, golf tournaments, bowling, walking,
Elliott events, Yada, Yada! Life is crazy busy! I love it!
The Eau Claire Lakes Business Association met last
Wednesday. If any business in Barnes or Gordon would like to
join there is still time. Our next meeting is Oct 14 at the
Trading Post at 10 a.m. This is the absolute last day to
join. We are involved with the Barnes-Gordon Brochure,
www.eauclairelakes.com , Indianhead Publication which is
distributed to about 650,000 people and we also advertise in
the Hayward Visitor Guide. The cost is 135 a mere pittance
to all this exposure. We need your input as well. Please
help the cause.
Now on to the Tavern League. This is another organization
that is extremely strong. I know we lost the smoking ban but
we feel we did our best and we can all live with the
compromise. We were instrumental in making the poker
machines a misdemeanor violation if caught paying off...we
fight for the rights of our members. We recognize those
politicians who favor us! Check out www.TLW.org I am the
President of the Ashland Bayfield Tavern League we have
approximately 45 members. The state has about 5000. Contact
me if you need more information. October 11, 2009 will be
our local fundraiser at Crossroads in Drummond. We still
have 100 tickets left.
Barnes Blog is taking off nicely. If you have information or
would like to submit advertising please contact us. The
cutoff date is the 20th of every month. Thanks to Lu and
Mellissa and all that have supported us.
Anyone interested in playing pool please contact me. We are
looking to get teams in the Barnes League. perhaps the
Namakagon or Iron River leagues.
Bowling has started and we have completed two weeks. Due to
not establishing handicaps, I am not sure what we did last
week. The first week we last all 7 points. Last week I did
get my average twice. Will see what happens this time.
Last weekend we were golfing gurus. Elliott not only played
his first tournament but he golfed 3. We did ok. It was Bob
Stansky, Scottie, Elliott and I. Scottie won two longest
drive awards. We finished at or below par for all
three...not bad! A good time was had by all of us!
There will be a Fundraiser for the VFW on Saturday at the
VFW starting at noon. Come out and show your support.
